Attached to the Mont d’Arbois Massif with the Mont Blanc in the distance, L’Hôtel L’Arboisie is the very emblem of the village of Megève, a small village in the Haute-Savoie in southeastern France Alpes. Conceived in the 1920s as a French alternative to St. Moritz by the Rothschilds, it was the first purpose-built resort in the Alps. Originally it was a prime destination for the French aristocracy. Since then, it remained one of the most famous and fanciest ski resorts in the world.
Hotel L’Arboisie has reopened in 2018 following its two-year renovation completed by interior designer Chantal Peyrat. She redesigned the whole complex into a place with a friendly and traditional spirit. At the same time a new identity and artistic direction was developed for the hotel by the retail and hospitality agency, Notoire.
While respecting the requirements of a luxury hospitality, the four-star hotel now presents itself as a large family home where the public areas become real places of life and exchange. Upon entry, the stage is set: a fire crackles in the lobby fireplace while Chesterfield armchairs invite visitors to relax.
The mountain spirit is evoked through small touches, offering a sense of comfort and wellbeing. Chantal Peyrat has chosen for authenticity and natural materials, such as solid wood and wool, to give the place a real sense of traditional elegance and charm. On the walls, vintage illustrations blend in with this retro decor. They subtly evoke mountain huts and their striking view of the village of Megève. Gastronomy is at the heart of the hotel. Guests can discover different regional specialties in the Cellier or in the new Chez Jean restaurant.
Because L’Arboisie is all about a sharing, the hotel unveiled The Cellier. It is the latest concept in sharing experiences. Visible from the reception, the space is both a grocery store and a wine bar for a gourmet moment. The products are sourced directly from local producers.
The hotel has 69 bedrooms and suites, a Deep Nature Spa, indoor & outdoor pools, sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi and massage huts.
