Price Winning Office

Studio Piet Boon has been chosen as the 2020 Architizer A+Awards Jury Winner in the category Office – Low Rise.

The Jury have chosen this year’s winners based on their functional and aesthetic qualities, as well as their intent, innovativeness, and potential to last. These are values the Piet Boon Studio and its design identity have been rooted in for 37 years.

The design for this barn-like structure was inspired by farms in the surrounding area to create a one-story office that breathes a homely, residential feel. The square-shaped layout encloses a symmetrical patio with a tranquil water feature and provides significant privacy.

Extending from the water feature, a protruding window provides a glimpse into the gym and showcases the views in front of the building.

Shape and Material

The shape of the building and its large windows provide panoramic views over the surrounding golf course.

The materialization of the interior has been consistently implemented and uses large amounts of natural stone. This is displayed in all washbasins, pantries, the fireplace and flooring that alternates a light wooden floor in the kitchen and the large office space.

Throughout the building the studio selected soft, desaturated colors – the plastered walls in light stucco beautifully feature the natural color of the wooden beams.
