The family-run Hotel Seegarten on the Sorpesee reservoir in Sundern, Germany opened a luxury spa in the new extension, in addition to upmarket lofts that are furnished to an impressively high specification. In collaboration with designer Stefan Ghetta from Archifaktur and the Otte-Nöcker-Partner architect’s office, hotelier Olaf Baumeister has created an oasis of wellbeing that combines modern design with a sense of the region.
The standard at spa hotels is quite exceptional: design, quality, ambience – everything must be just right. Olaf Baumeister relied almost exclusively on materials and brands local to the region to meet this requirement in the spa area, as well as in the hotel lofts. This is why the bathrooms of the Junior and Panorama Lofts are furnished with the characteristic MEM series fittings from Dornbracht, as well as Alape brand basins; a Dornbracht rain shower creates a sense of showering under an open sky and turns the open design of the bathrooms into real oases of wellbeing.
Guests enjoy a fantastic view over the Sorpesee reservoir through the all-glass facade of the hotel from the 500 m² spa area. As well as the view, it is most notably the different applications from Dornbracht that make this place so utterly relaxing. In the sauna area of the “Sky Spa”, Sensory Sky offers unique shower experiences: fragrance, mist, light and various rain modes are combined into complex choreographies that touch all the senses. The carefully composed scenarios vary in intensity, temperature, flow mode and amount of water and can be refreshing or calming, as required – a perfect conclusion to a sauna.
