Southern Guild will open their new gallery with inaugural show of SA’s design stalwarts this June. Celebrating the most lauded local design heroes, Southern Guild, Africa’s only design gallery representing collectible, limited-edition work from the continent, will open their new flagship venue in Cape Town.

Stellar, the tile of this group show, will exhibit work by 23 South African heavyweights such as Andile Dyalvane, Dokter and Misses, Gregor Jenkin and Porky Hefer alongside work by Cheick Diallo from Mali and Hamed Ouattara from Burkina Faso.

Stellar represents the highest echelon of collectible design from this country – something we have been building since we founded Southern Guild,’ explains gallery co-founder Trevyn McGowan. ‘It’s a very important show for us and our designers – a culmination of the work we’ve been doing for nearly a decade with the leading design voices in the country.’

Established in 2008, Southern Guild has established a unique platform for collectible, limited edition African design. It doesn’t only stay in Cape Town, the collection filled with unique pieces is taken to International fairs such as Design Miami, Design Days Dubai and Collective in New York.

Stellar will showcase both globally recognised and never-before-seen work. ‘Stellar welcomes visitors into our universe of superstar designers,’ says Julian McGowan, business partner of Southern Guild.
